Rearview Mirror
When you look in the rearview mirror this summer, who will you see looking back at you?
Spring is the time of year that we all look forward to getting outside and stretching our legs. A lot of the time we’re hopping in the car and heading off to the nearest sports field to watch the kids play baseball or soccer. Maybe it’s you who is getting out to throw, kick, or hit the ball.
Exercise and fresh air are a big part of the experience but getting together with friends and family is my favourite part. Everyone seems busy heading off in all directions so we all chip in to help each other out when we can. This may mean volunteering to manage or coach a team or it could be something as simple as helping to make sure that everyone gets to the game on time by taking your turn driving. When you look in the rearview mirror, who do you see looking back at you? Do you have a couple children other than your own in the back. Maybe your adult league team meets for a couple beers after the game and you’re the designated-driver.
Despite our best efforts and intentions things can go wrong and accidents happen. What if you’re in a car accident and your teammates or your children’s friends are in the car and seriously injured? Where would the money come from to provide for the injured person’s ongoing care? While it is the last thing that they would ever want to do, the cost of providing care to a loved one can leave people with no choice other than to seek financial compensation from a friend. Sometimes the amount required can be much higher than you ever imagined. Increasing your liability limits or an Umbrella Liability policy might be just what you need to help take the worry out of summer fun.
